Southeast Asia

Southeast Asia is a region where travelling by water feels particularly appropriate. Seas, straits and rivers have connected its communities for centuries, carrying people, goods, religions and ideas between islands and along the coast. Exploring by small ship allows you to follow some of those connections yourself, moving between landscapes and cultures without repeatedly returning to airports or major cities. There isn't one type of Southeast Asia cruise. Indonesia lends itself particularly well to expedition travel, with thousands of islands and opportunities to explore places such as Raja Ampat and Komodo by Zodiac, on foot and in the water. Elsewhere, voyages might follow the coasts of Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia, while river journeys offer another perspective again, travelling inland along waterways such as the Mekong. That variety makes choosing the right itinerary important. A voyage through Raja Ampat can be strongly focused on marine life, snorkelling and remote island exploration, while Komodo combines wildlife with dramatic landscapes and time in the water. A journey through Vietnam and Cambodia is likely to have a much stronger cultural and historical focus. Cruise
