Whether you’re booking a cruise holiday with flights, a cruise-only voyage, or a bespoke travel package, your money is safeguarded through either ATOL protection or our Worldchoice Plus financial protection arrangements, depending on the type of holiday you choose.
We will provide clear information about the protection that applies to your booking and ensure that every client benefits from appropriate financial protection. Full details of the cover applicable to your holiday will be provided at the time of booking, so you can travel knowing your arrangements are secure.
ATOL Protection for Flight-Inclusive Holidays
All package holidays sold by Cruise Routes that include a flight are protected by the Air Travel Organiser’s Licence (ATOL) scheme.
ATOL is a UK financial protection scheme managed by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). It protects customers if a travel company holding an ATOL licence ceases trading, helping to ensure that customers do not lose their money or become stranded abroad. The scheme is backed by the Air Travel Trust, which exists to protect consumers in the unlikely event of an ATOL holder’s failure.
When you book a flight-inclusive holiday with Cruise Routes, you will receive an ATOL Certificate. This important document confirms:
- What travel arrangements are protected
- Who is providing the protection
- What to do if there is a problem before or during your trip
- Your rights under the ATOL scheme
We recommend that you check your ATOL Certificate carefully and keep it with your travel documentation.

Financial Protection for Non-ATOL Bookings
Not all holidays include flights. For travel arrangements that do not include a flight and are therefore not covered by the ATOL scheme, Cruise Routes is a member of Worldchoice Plus.
Worldchoice Plus provides financial failure protection for eligible non-ATOL bookings, helping to safeguard customer monies in the unlikely event of our financial failure. This means that customers can book with confidence knowing that protection is in place for qualifying cruise-only holidays and other non-flight travel arrangements.
The specific protection applicable to your booking will be clearly confirmed as part of your booking documentation.
