Cruise Routes

Martin Johnson

Co-founder and Director

Martin Johnson, Director of Cruise Routes, brings over 17 years of experience in cruise travel – much of it spent focused on expedition journeys to some of the world’s most remote regions.

His early work in the polar sector helped shape a deep understanding of what makes these voyages so rewarding – not just the landscapes and wildlife, but the pace, the perspective, and the sense of genuine discovery that comes with travelling well beyond the usual routes.

Over the years, that experience has broadened to include a wide range of exploration-led cruising, but the same principles remain at the heart of his approach: take the time to understand what each client is really looking for, offer clear and honest advice, and shape journeys that feel considered from the very beginning.

Martin believes that the right cruise isn’t about doing more, but about experiencing more – with time to connect to a destination in a way that stays with you long after you return home.

Today, he leads Cruise Routes with that same mindset, working closely with the team to ensure every client benefits from thoughtful guidance, personal attention, and a level of care that makes even the most complex trips feel straightforward to plan.

Inspiration written by Martin

“Having spent years helping people explore some of the world’s most remarkable places, I’ve learnt that the best journeys are about far more than where you go. This is where I share the destinations, experiences and ideas that continue to inspire me, along with a few lessons picked up along the way. I hope you’ll find something here that sparks your curiosity.”
