Sarah Shanahan

Cruise Consultant

Sarah Shanahan has worked in the travel industry for two decades, but her passion for exploring the world has been lifelong.

She has travelled to all seven continents and explored more than 65 countries, building a depth of first‑hand experience that now shapes her work as an expedition and adventure travel specialist.

Her journeys have taken her from the Great White Continent of Antarctica to the Norwegian High Arctic, Iceland’s volcanic coastlines, and a full transit of the legendary Northwest Passage – sailing through the Canadian High Arctic to western Greenland. These polar expeditions have afforded her extraordinary wildlife encounters: a mesmerising and humbling moment with a blue whale and her calf, sightings of polar bears on the endless sea ice of the Arctic, and unforgettable interactions with playful minke whales weaving around and beneath her kayaking group in Antarctica.

Multiple extended, immersive trips across Asia, Australasia, and Latin America further shaped Sarah’s travel philosophy. Highlights included witnessing the magnificent moai of Easter Island, crossing Bolivia’s shimmering salt flats, and watching dawn break over Machu Picchu. Her adventures have also taken her to French Polynesia, the Galápagos, the Indian Ocean, and the Panama Canal, as well as on safari through the wildlife‑rich plains of Namibia and South Africa.

Some of Sarah’s most unforgettable experiences include soaring by helicopter above picture‑perfect Bora Bora, camping on the ice in Antarctica where the sounds of the continent brought it vividly to life, a baby elephant drinking from her (occupied) plunge pool in Kruger, and paragliding through the foothills of the Himalaya in India.

Today, Sarah brings this wealth of lived experience into every itinerary she designs, helping travellers discover the world’s most remarkable places with confidence, curiosity, and a deep sense of wonder.
